| Eastern moles are the most common of all the moles. Eastern moles can be found east of the Rocky Mt., from Canada to Florida.

What do moles eat?
The eastern, and hairy tailed moles diets are very similar.The #1 food on there diet is earth worms, they also eat a varity of insects likes Spiders, Beetles, ants, white grubs. But moles will eat mice, frogs and other small pest. Whatever they can catch in the ground.
Star nosed moles diets are alittle different. Earth worms are #1. Star nose moles are actualy good swimmers and forage aquatic insect at the bottom of ponds and streams.
Moles saliva have a toxin and can paralize earth worm. Moles will paralize food and store alive for later or for offspring. Moles are actualy paticular about their food. Moles will take earth worms and hold them and sqeeze the dirt from them with thier feet. A 3 to 4 ounce mole can consume 20 to 30 pounds of worms a year.

A Moles tunnel is a moles life line. Moles tunnels are used for traping food, storing food, nesting, and traveling. Moles have two types of tunnel systems shallow Feed Tunnels, and deeper nesting travel tunnels.
The Moles feed tunnels are shallow tunnels that are designed to attract earth worms. When the ground gets warm and moist Earth worms move toward the surface then in the darkness and air of the tunnel breed.This allows the Mole to move thru the tunnels paralizing the earth worms. Then the Mole can store the worms or feed offspring.
The deeper nesting, storage, resting tunnels these tunnels are like the Moles highway connecting the Moles feed, nesting and storage tunnels. Nesting tunnels are usually 12 to 24 inches deep depending on what time of year it is and if its dry or wet.
